With the news that the Novel Coronavirus is spreading, there is a lot of concern over what safety precautions one should use. While the following is not a fail-safe approach, the message makes sense and has been broadcast over the internet by many as a good practice to live by.
Always wash your hands after every activity with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
If concerned with the spread and want to wear a mask or take extra precautions you should look to cover your eyes, nose, mouth and any cuts on your skin.
As for disinfecting your surrounding areas, always read the labels and instructions on the bottle. Remember that many household disinfectants are weaker in strength therefore a commercial disinfectant is preferable (household disinfectant can have only 3% of a commercial disinfectant strength). Finally, when using make sure you take note of the dwell time (time the product is left on the surface before wiping off). This is a critical component in the effective usage of the product.
